As a young man Fred played with many of the greatest names in the Chicago Jazz scene where he was introduced to improvisational comedy. He then spent nearly 30 years as the Musical Director of the Second City in Chicago deeply influencing many of the funniest people in the world

Feats Per Minute record playing bike helps you kickstand out the jams (video)

If you’re like us, you spend most of your waking hours attempting to figure out a way to enjoy your vinyl collection on the go. Feats Per Minute offers a simple and handy solution, incorporating a turntable onto the rear wheel of a bicycle — you spin the record player as you ride, and the sound plays out of an old timey horn on the back. There were a few obstacles to overcome: like getting the record to play vertically and making sure the needle skips as little as possible while riding the thing. I Fight Dragons’ tutorial for making chiptunes

[ Video Link ] Brian from the band I Fight Dragons generously made a tutorial that explains how to create your own chiptunes (music made on old videogame soundcards). Many of you have asked how we do what we do, so now we’re starting a series to explain the inner workings of our tech for those of you who wish to make chiptune and/or program controllers too! Urbanears Plattan Headphones

This is the Plattan from Urbanears, and it is designed to be a classic looking set of headphones. Right now, I am listening to them now, and I’m pretty pleased with their performance. The style seems to shun the rubberized look of most cushioned headphones, and the cord has a 47 inch tangle resistant fabric cord. The top is also full of fabric as well, and it really is nice.
