Automatic hanging-up machine for terminating calls with phone solicitors

The “PX1020 Easy Hang Up” is a device for people who a) still have landlines and b) hate phone solicitors. Simply press the button and hang up, and the person on the other end is played a pre-recorded message (for example, you, telling them to remove you from their list). There’s something attractive about the sheer bloodymindedness of this device. It reminds me of my autoresponder for crazy people who send in hatemail (“Dear upset person, my apologies that something I wrote upset you so much

BluestSoft DiskArchiver OneTouch Home

Many a time, we are told to make a backup of all our work, but the daily (or weekly, depending on your backup schedule) discipline seems to escape us majority of the time. Well, we tell ourselves, “If only there was something that can perform those backups for us with minimal effort.” Come on now, if you value your hard work on the digital platform, surely you would take all the necessary precautions to ensure there is a copy somewhere? Check out more images of the device in the Source link below. Giant wall console lets you Game & Watch while you wait originally appeared on Engadget on Sat, 24 Sep 2011 10:44:00 EDT.

Mold and Germ Destroying Air Purifier

You never quite know what kind of nasties are there hanging around us these days, and so it always pays to be safe than sorry – which is where the Mold and Germ Destroying Air Purifier comes in handy. This $299.95 device does not come cheap, but before you dismiss it off as some sort of marketing gimmick, hear me out. Hammacher claims that this device is capable of eliminating up to 100% of airborne bacteria, including mold, viruses, dust mites, and pollen – doing so by virtue of being a silent killer

This week on the Gadget Lab podcast, the gang talks about products from the big three: Microsoft, Apple and Google. Staff writer Mike Isaac kicks the show off with some initial thoughts on the brand new Windows 8 Metro user interface for mobile devices and desktops, released in developer preview form earlier this week. It’s an entirely different look than what we’ve seen from Microsoft in the past.
